Welcome

Here at Twynham Sixth form we have had considerable success over many years and it is easy to see why we are the largest Sixth Form in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Our success is built on two core pillars: high quality teaching combined with exceptional relationships fostered between staff who genuinely care about our students and young adults who are determined to work their very hardest.

Our Sixth Form has a very distinctive culture that is deliberately designed to replicate the feel of undergraduate study. All of our students are academically able, studying mainly an A-Level suite of qualifications. We do offer a small number of full-time vocational courses and these have been specifically designed to support university or high-quality apprenticeship progression for those students who chose to study them.

As a consequence, you are surrounded by students who want to learn, readily accept the need to work hard and are ambitious and passionate about their studies. This attitude is infectious and pervades across the school.

We are fortunate at Twynham School to employ some of the very best teachers in the business. As a National Teaching School we are able to attract exceptionally high quality staff and they love the intellectual challenge and stimulus of teaching our Sixth formers. Outcomes are strong and in many subjects they are amongst the very best in the country, achieved through the combined hard work of our students and the talented teaching of our staff.

What makes Twynham Sixth Form so unique though is the attention we pay to developing a sense of community within our Sixth Form. Paintballing, Freshers’ Ball, Prom and Commencement are all designed to bring our students together to have fun, make new friends and journey through young adulthood together. Opportunity is abound in the Sixth Form, from performing in a professional theatre to travelling as far as Uganda, New Zealand and New York.

And the impact of all of this is there to see. Students head off to the very best universities, specialist arts colleges, top apprenticeships and jobs. They are incredibly successful and they recognise the support Twynham has given them on their paths to success. Our alumni is the envy of many an independent school, with over 100 ex-students eager to support those currently studying at the school to follow in their footsteps and tread the well-worn path of success.

Don’t believe me? Come and see us to find out more. You are always welcome and we would love the opportunity to show you around our simply wonderful Sixth Form.
